Dictation for confidential work

The dictation tool you can use under an NDA.

When a contract, a client or your employer rules out cloud AI tools, cloud dictation goes with them: your voice, and everything you say, would go to a server you do not control. Dictate Safe runs the speech model on your own computer. On the default setup, nothing you say is sent anywhere.

Three rooms

Three jobs, and what stays in the room.

An attorney, a nurse practitioner and an engineer, in three cities. Each one says their work out loud, and each room shows one thing that never leaves the computer.

7:40 PMChicago, a law officeNothing left the computer

The night before a deposition

An attorney at her desk at night over the city, talking through her outline to the laptop
Question12.Whendidyoufirstseetherevisedcontract?

Tomorrow’s questions, worked out loud the night before, in the words she will actually use. The speech model runs on her computer, so what she says about the case goes nowhere else: no account, no telemetry, nothing sent.

Local is the default: the speech model and the filler-word removal both run on the computer, and the app always shows which mode it is in.

11:50 AMDenver, a family practiceDeleted means erased

The note, between two patients

A nurse practitioner at her office desk with a coffee, saying her note to the laptop between patients
Kneepainisbettersincethelastvisit.Continuetheexercises,followupin6weeks.

A minute between rooms is enough to say a note, not to type one. Every dictation is kept only on her computer, and when she deletes one, its text and its recording are erased there, not just hidden.

Delete one dictation or many: the text and the recording are erased on the computer, and the space they used is overwritten.

3:10 PMSeattle, after a client callOffline Lock: no connection at all

The call nobody could record

An engineer leaning back at a meeting table after a call, saying his notes to the laptop
Clientwantstheloadtestsrerunbeforethedesignreview.Keepvendornamesoutofthedeck.

The client’s rules say no recordings and no cloud tools, so the notes come from him, straight after the call, in his own words, into a note in Dictate Safe’s own Scratchpad. There is no meeting recorder: it listens only while he dictates. With Offline Lock on, it makes no connection at all, and the switch shows on every screen of the app.

Offline Lock refuses model downloads, update checks, signing in and cloud providers while it is on, and says so in plain words.

What leaves the computer

Three modes, and the app always shows which one.

The default sends nothing. The other two exist for people who want cloud speed, only with a provider and a key they chose themselves.

Local, the default

Nothing leaves your computer. The speech model runs on it, and the filler words are removed on it.

Hybrid, if you choose

Only the text goes to the cloud provider you picked, for AI cleanup. Your voice stays on your computer.

Cloud, if you choose

Your recording goes to Groq, with your own key. We never see the audio, the text or the key.

Offline Lock is one switch that stops the app making any connection at all, in Settings, in the menu bar and on the privacy card. Model downloads, update checks, signing in and cloud providers are refused while it is on.
For whoever approves your tools

The facts, for the person who has to say yes.

Whether a tool is allowed is your employer’s or your client’s decision. These are the facts to make it with, each one something they can check.

  • No account to dictate. The speech model is downloaded once and runs on the computer.
  • No telemetry, no analytics. We cannot see what anyone dictates.
  • Few connections, all of them named: downloading the speech model and the prompt library, update checks, signing in and license renewal, and a cloud provider only if someone adds their own key.
  • One switch stops all of them. Offline Lock, and the app says so whenever it refuses something.
  • Dictations stay on the computer, in History, and can be deleted one at a time or in bulk, recordings included.
  • No meeting recorder. It hears the person dictating, while they dictate.

Questions people ask first
Can I use it with confidential client material?
That is your employer's or your client's call, and this page gives you the facts to make it with. On the default setup the speech model runs on your computer and nothing you say is sent anywhere. If you add a cloud provider, the app shows it, and your recording or your text goes to that provider with your own key.
Does it record meetings or calls?
No. Dictate Safe has no meeting recorder. It listens while you dictate and turns what you say into text in whatever app has the cursor.
Where are my dictations kept, and can I delete them?
On your computer, in History. Delete any dictation, one or many, and its text and recording are erased on the computer, with the space they used overwritten. The entry stays as a placeholder so your totals stay right.
Does it work with no internet at all?
Yes, for dictating, once it is set up: the speech model is downloaded once. Offline Lock stops every connection with one switch, and when it refuses something, the app says so in plain words instead of failing quietly.
Can you see what I say?
No. There is no telemetry and no analytics, and dictating needs no account. We cannot see your dictations.
Which languages does it understand?
English. The speech models are English-only, which makes them more accurate at English than multilingual models of the same size.
What does it cost?
One payment for a lifetime license that covers 2 computers, with updates and fixes to the features sold included, while we offer the app. Try 25 dictations first, with no card and no account.

Try the part that matters first.

Twenty five dictations, no card and no account. It is the same app you would buy, running the same way it will on day thirty.
