Tasks and reminders

Your tasks sit above everything you open.

The floating icon is already on your screen while you work. Your tasks and reminders live there too, so you see them, tick them and add them without switching to another window.

No tab to switch to and no app to open. The number on the icon is how many reminders are waiting for you.

Always in sight

The floating icon stays on top of your other windows while you work, so your tasks are one hover away and there is nothing to switch to.

Say it, and it is a task

Dictate or type one sentence. The day, the time and the reminder are read out of it.

Reminders that do not pile up

A small card for a few seconds, then it leaves. A number on the icon keeps count of what is still waiting for you.

Add from the icon

Say it. It is a task.

Press Add task, then dictate or type what needs doing, in plain words. Dictate Safe reads the day, the time and the reminder out of the sentence and shows you what it understood before you press Enter.

Dictate it or just type it: the same box, the same reading of the sentence.
Reminders

A reminder at the moment you would start.

One small card, with the right buttons for the moment: before it starts, when it starts, when the time block ends, and at the deadline. It leaves by itself, and the number on the icon keeps count of what you have not answered. Later offers real choices, and every answer has an Undo.

In the app

Pick three. Hardest first.

For the full picture, open the app. Write everything down, then choose the three that matter today. The morning card says “Hardest one first”, asks when you will start the first one, and gives you one line for what might get in the way. Today holds three: a fourth waits until one comes off.

Give a task every detail.

The Tasks page has the same quick box, with a button for the full form: when it starts and how long it takes, a deadline, a reminder, a category, a goal and a priority. Give it a deadline and a length, and the form suggests the latest start that still finishes in time.

Goals

Big things get a plan.

Name what you are trying to finish and the day you want it done, type its tasks one to a line, and it becomes a goal with progress, a pace and a timeline.

Views

See it the way you think.

The same tasks, four ways to look at them: a list, a board, a calendar by day, week or month, and a mind map. Move things in any of them and the others follow.

Built not to postpone

A list can hold what you are putting off. This one helps you start.

Writing a task down is easy. Starting it is the hard part, so most of what you saw above is built around the start.

Three a day

Today holds three. A fourth waits until one comes off, so the day stays small enough to finish.

A start time that works

Give a deadline and a length, and it suggests the latest start that still finishes in time.

Moves are counted

Every time a task is pushed later it is counted. Moved 3 times is on the task, in plain words.

An end check-in

When a time block ends, the card asks: Done, Still going or Stop for now.

A cheer, once

Finish something you moved three times, and it says so.

No grading

The week report counts what moved and what you dropped. It never marks you.

Review

See where the week went.

Everything you finished is in one place. Log what you did before you wrote it down. The week report counts what got done, what moved and what you dropped, and works it all out on your computer.

Where it lives

Your tasks stay yours.

On your computer

Your tasks are kept on this computer. No account is needed, and nothing about your tasks is sent to us.

Locked when you choose

Turn on encryption for the app and your task records are encrypted with everything else it keeps.

In your backups

Tasks, goals and reminders go into the backup file you make, and come back when you restore it.

Reminders that arrive

Reminders arrive while Dictate Safe is running, and Open at login keeps it running from the moment you sign in.

Prefer to talk it through? The Assistant is a character that can create and move your tasks and remind you, in plain conversation.

Try the part that matters first.

Twenty five dictations, no card and no account. It is the same app you would buy, running the same way it will on day thirty.
