How do I teach it names it keeps getting wrong?
Add the word once to Vocabulary, and every dictation afterward leans toward recognising it. No retraining, no restart.
Open Vocabulary, type the word, and press Add. The very next dictation leans toward recognising it, with nothing to retrain and nothing to restart.
#Add a term
- Open Vocabulary in the sidebar.
- Type the word or phrase exactly as it should be spelled, then press Add, or Enter.
The term appears in the list, and from then on the list shows how many of your dictations it has been typed in.
#What it changes
- Recognition. Your terms are given to the speech model before it listens, which raises the odds it picks your word over something that merely sounds like it.
- Spelling and capitals. A term heard correctly but written differently is fixed as it is typed, so “open ai” comes out as
OpenAIif that is how you saved it. This happens in plain code, with no AI. - AI cleanup, if you use it. Correcting names against this list is one of cleanup’s two jobs. See what AI cleanup fixes.
Product names, people’s names, and jargon specific to your work. Ordinary words you say often do not need it.
Vocabulary raises the odds of a correct match; it does not guarantee one, and it works best on words that are otherwise plausible English. If a word is still wrong every time, see Why is the same word misheard every time?
With the default on-device model, your Vocabulary stays on your computer.
