Get Dictate Safe from the Microsoft Store. The Store installs it, keeps it up to date and asks for no administrator password. Guided setup starts the first time Dictate Safe opens.
#Install
- On the Download page, press Get it from Microsoft Store. Windows may ask whether to open the Microsoft Store; choose Open. You can also search for Dictate Safe in the Store app.
- In the Store, press Get. It downloads and installs by itself.
- Press Open when it finishes, or open Dictate Safe from the Start menu any time later.
Dictate Safe opens on its guided setup: a welcome, the microphone, a speech model to download, the key you will hold, and a sentence to say so you can watch it work.
#Where it lives after install
The app appears in the Start menu. Once it is running, its icon sits in the notification area at the right-hand end of the taskbar, and a small floating icon sits near the bottom of the screen. Everything it stores stays on this computer. See where your data is stored on this machine.
#Updates
The Microsoft Store updates Dictate Safe by itself, so there is nothing to download again. To check right now, open the Store, choose Library, then Get updates.
#If you tested the installer version
- In the installer version, make a backup. See how to set up backups and make one now.
- Uninstall the installer version: Settings, Apps, Installed apps, then Dictate Safe and Uninstall.
- Get Dictate Safe from the Microsoft Store, as above.
- Restore the backup, and sign in or paste your license key. See how to restore a backup.
#Remove it
Open Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps. Find Dictate Safe and choose Uninstall. Removing a Store app can also remove the files it keeps for itself, so if you want to keep your History, prompts and tasks, make a backup first. See how to set up backups and make one now.
Dictate Safe needs 64-bit Windows 10 or later. See what your computer needs for memory and disk space.
A work or school PC can block the Microsoft Store. That is a decision made by whoever administers the machine, and Dictate Safe cannot bypass it.
