What leaves your device and when, how to switch every connection off, and how to encrypt your history on the computer.
- What leaves my device, and when?Your voice and text stay on your computer unless you choose a cloud provider; the app's few plain requests carry nothing you said, and Offline Lock stops them.
- How do I stop the app connecting to anything?Turn on Offline Lock in Settings, Privacy, the menu bar icon or the sidebar card, and every connection is refused, ours included, while dictation keeps working.
- Can I use this under an NDA or a company AI ban?Usually yes; tell your IT team that by default no audio reaches a third party, so no data-processing agreement is needed, and one switch stops every connection.
- Where is my data stored on this machine? One folder in your account holds history, recordings, notes, prompts, settings, vocabulary, snippets and models; keys and license live in the system keychain.
- How do I encrypt my history on this computer?Set up locked backups, then turn it on in Settings, Privacy. Copied files or a removed disk then show only scrambled data. It is off until you turn it on.
- Why does it say my history is locked? You turned on encryption and this computer cannot use the key right now. Your backup passphrase unlocks it; without the key and the passphrase, nobody can.
