How do I find a prompt and drop it into an AI tool?

Open the prompt palette from the floating icon or its shortcut, type a word, and press Enter. The prompt is typed into the app you were working in.

Click into the box where the prompt should go, open the prompt palette, type a word, and press Enter. Dictate Safe types the whole prompt into the app you were working in, whether that is ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or anything else with a text box.

#Open the palette

  • Hover the floating icon and click Prompts.
  • Or press the palette shortcut: ⌥ P on a Mac, or Ctrl + ` on Windows. Choose a different one, or turn it off, under Settings → General → Prompt palette shortcut.

#Find one and use it

  1. Click into the text box in your AI tool.
  2. Open the palette.
  3. Type a word from the prompt’s title or summary. The words you typed are highlighted in each result. To browse instead of searching, press the down arrow.
  4. Pick one with the arrow keys and press Enter.
You should now see

The palette closes and the prompt appears in the box you clicked into, ready to finish and send.

#The other keys

  • Shift + Enter (or ⌘ + Enter, or Ctrl + Enter) copies the prompt to the clipboard instead of typing it.
  • Esc closes the palette, or closes the category list first if it is open.
  • The button at the right of the search box, which reads All categories, narrows the list to one category.
The words in square brackets are yours

Many prompts have parts in square brackets, such as [client name], for what changes each time. They are typed exactly as written, so replace them before you send.

Limits

The palette searches My Palette, not the whole library. A library prompt shows up once you have saved it: see how to add a prompt to My Palette.

If nothing is focused that can take text, the prompt is copied to the clipboard instead, and the palette says so.
