How do I turn a voice note or an audio file into text?
Drop it on the Import page: WhatsApp and Telegram voice notes, Voice Memos, MP3, WAV and FLAC all work, and the text appears there and is saved to History.
Open Import and drop the file onto it, or click to browse. Dictate Safe turns it into text with the same speech engine your dictation uses, and on your own computer.
#Import a file
- Open Import in the sidebar.
- Drag one or several files onto the drop area, or click it to choose them.
- Wait while they are transcribed, one after another.
Each file’s text appears on the Import page, ready to copy, and in History, marked from a file.
#What it can read
- WhatsApp and Telegram voice notes (
.opusand.ogg) - Voice Memos and other
.m4arecordings .mp3,.wavand.flac
On your phone, share or export the voice note to your computer, or save it from WhatsApp on the computer, then drop the file in.
An imported file is never typed into another app, because nobody is waiting at a cursor for it. Copy the text from the Import page or from History.
With the built-in engine, nothing about the file leaves your computer. If you have chosen a cloud speech provider, the Import page says so, and the file is sent to that provider like a dictation would be.
