How do I find something I dictated earlier?
Every dictation is kept in History, on your computer, with its recording. Search it by any word you said, narrow it by date, and play it back or copy it.
Open History and type any word you remember saying. Every dictation is kept there, on your computer, with the recording it came from.
#Find it
- Open History in the sidebar.
- Type a word or two into the search box.
- If there are too many matches, narrow them by date: Today, This week, This month, or a custom range of your own.
Each result shows when you said it, how long it was, and which app it was typed into. Play it back with the play button, or copy the text with the copy button.
#Live, and imported
The All, Live and Imported switch separates what you dictated in Dictate Safe from what came in some other way: an audio file you imported, marked from a file, or a history from another app, marked with that app’s name.
Copy Last Transcript, in the menu under the Dictate Safe icon in the menu bar, copies your most recent dictation without opening the window.
History lives on this computer only. It is not synced to your other computer, and nothing in it is ever sent anywhere.
