Backups
Save a locked copy of your history to a folder you choose, by hand or on a schedule, and bring it back on a new computer.
- What is a backup, and where does it go?A backup is one file the app writes to a folder you choose, locked with your passphrase. We never upload it; if the folder is synced, that service does.
- How do I set up backups and make one now?Open Settings, Backup, press Set up backups, choose a folder and a passphrase, and press Save and back up now. The file is checked before it is called saved.
- How do automatic backups work?Choose Every day or Every week in Settings, Backup. The app backs up when one is due, keeps the number you choose, and says on screen if one fails.
- How does the backup passphrase work?It must be strong, or the app refuses it. Nobody can recover a forgotten one, including us. Keeping it on the computer lets backups run by themselves.
- How do I restore a backup on a new computer?Open Import, choose the backup file, type its passphrase and press Import. The whole file is checked first, and importing only adds: nothing you have is changed.
- Will I lose my history if I uninstall the Microsoft Store version?Yes, uninstalling the Microsoft Store version removes the app's data folder with the app. Make a backup first and import it after you reinstall.
